Dr. Camarena-Michel is a board certified medical toxicologist and emergency physician. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and then completed her medical education at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where she earned her medical degree. She then completed four years of emergency medicine training at Denver Health and University of Colorado-Anschutz Hospitals. After this, she completed a two-year fellowship at the Rocky Mountain Poison Center in Denver, Colorado. Post fellowship, she founded the medical toxicology service at UC Health Memorial Hospital, where she provides consultative expertise in the clinical management of poisoned patients. She has also designed and implemented a medical toxicology board review curriculum with fellows-in-training and continues to engage in research as faculty of the Rocky Mountain Poison Center.
